Long Life Prayer for Za Choeje Rinpoche
Hail to the three-fold infallible objects of refuge,
And the assemblage of deities of longevity,
Who if relied upon, fulfill all our wishes,
And shower forth goodness and well being in Samsara and beyond.
I pray to the glorious and unequaled Master,
Who is unrivaled in disseminating the sublime
Buddha’s teachings, According to the tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa,
The supreme holder of the immaculate Dharma of the Buddha.
Perfectly trained in listening, contemplating and meditating,
Upon the tradition of Lama Tsongkhapa,
You are skilled in delivering countless beings to ultimate liberation,
May you, O benefactor of all beings and the Dharma, live long!
Being wise, devoted and benevolent,
You are endowed with the qualities of a noble being,
Enriched with the Dharma, you possess the marks of a perfect teacher.
May you live long for the glory of the Dharma.
Through kindness of ocean-like infinite fields of refuge,
The power of the primordial pure and profound suchness,
And unwavering faith and unchanging reverence,
May all my sincere wishes and prayers be eventually fulfilled.
Today, Za Choeje Rinpoche gave the Amitayus Long Life empowerment, which included an oral transmission of the sutra and mantras. Words cannot express how absolutely grateful I am for the opportunity to receive this particular initiation from Rinpoche, who had received it from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and other great Dharma masters.
During the ceremony, Rinpoche mentioned to keep in mind and send the blessings to all the people who wished they could attend but due to distance, obligations and circumstances could not make the empowerment. This was on my mind because a Dharma friend, Terri, was not able to attend but I visualized that she was there with us--within the mandala of Amitayus.
I have a particular attraction for the padma buddha family and Amitabha/Amitayus Buddha, so this was a very, very auspicious event. This lotus 'connection' or resonance, I hope will only grow stronger after receiving these wonderful and inconceivable blessings from guruji, Za Rinpoche.
May Za Choeje Rinpoche and all the lineage masters have stainless health and long life for the glory of the Dharma and continue to benefit all sentient beings in the ten directions and the three times. Namo Buddha!
