POEM - 'On the Beach'

I sat on the beach
and
listened to
the sound of the water.
I closed my eyes
and
directed my attention
to the wax and wane of the waves.

The waves are the most natural sound—
just the kinetic elements in motion.
No electrical amplification
or surround sound speakers necessary.

I dug my feet into the sand
and could feel the cyclic
rhythm of the walls of
water hitting the beach.

It shuddered the sand
and vibrated my feet.
I stretched my arms wide
and gazed up at the sky.

It was absolute exhilaration
experiencing the midpoint of Earth and sea,
at the meeting point of worlds
in the twilight of the continental mass.
